In addition to all our usual qualilty stuff, our next PopUp Boutique will feature quite a number of free motion rulers. If this is something you've been wanting to try, now's your chance. We will also have panels at $2.50 each, and sales on thread (10 spools for $1) and fat quarters (50 cents each), so it will be a good time to stock up on those things. And, finally, we expect to have a few unusual things there, such as acrylic paint and MiniMe voice recorders.
But wait! There's more! The San Jose Musuem of Quilts and Textiles will host a table at the boutique and will be selling 4 yard bundles of silk, hand-dyed by Gail Grassl. They are magnificent and only $10 per yard.
Gail was born in Los Angeles in 1933 and had a gift for turning fabric into art. She sewed her clothes starting in junior high as a quiet declaration of a talent that defined her life. She designed and created complicated clothing, reimagined her organza wedding gown for a friend's daughter, then continued designing wedding gowns, weaving herself into this important day. In the 1990s, Gail opened her Seal Beach studio at her home, skillfully and joyfully taught silk painting to anyone willing to learn.
You are seriously not going to want to miss this amazing event.
